Yei Eun Shin is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Seoul National University. Her research interests include datatype (survival, spatiotemporal, functional, longitudinal), methodology (competing risk, survey sampling, nested case-control, Markovian model, splines, missing data), and data science applications (cancer epidemiology, disease progression, public health). This lab develops statistical methods to analyze the risk of cancer or diseases. We primarily analyze the relationship between competing risks of various diseases and complex risk factors (e.g., accelerometers for measuring physical activity, industrial and environmental variables, metabolic imbalances) that are not straightforward to apply existing theories to. The developed models are applied to various cohort data in global cancer epidemiology research, with a particular interest in improving model estimation and validation in incomplete cohort data (such as hierarchically designed cohorts like case-cohort or nested case-control).
