The Advanced Semiconductor Devices and Systems (ADS) Lab focuses on advanced semiconductor devices and sensors. Research interests span from photodiodes and photodetectors to single-photon detectors and sensors. Since 2006, the lab has concentrated on CMOS-compatible avalanche photodetectors (CMOS-APDs), single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs), and silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), along with their applications in LiDAR, dToF, 3D vision, biophotonics, quantum photonics, space, security, silicon photonics, and optical interconnects. Current research emphasizes high-performance SPAD/SiPM/APD detectors/sensors for next-generation applications, including LiDAR/ToF sensors for ADAS and autonomous vehicles; biomedical applications such as TOF PET and super-resolution microscopy; safety and security applications like night vision and radiation detectors; quantum applications, including integrated photonic quantum technology; and optical interconnect applications such as silicon photonics and CPO.
