The Woo-Bin Jung Group (also known as Cybernetic Electrochemistry Lab) is actively recruiting undergraduate researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers. Their research focuses on three main areas: developing semiconductor-based DNA synthesis systems, monitoring neural networks, and researching electrochemical sensors. Specifically, they explore DNA data storage using synthetic DNA as an ultra-dense and long-term information medium by integrating DNA synthesis and readout with semiconductor technologies. They also develop electrochemical sensors based on CMOS platforms for sensitive, real-time detection of biochemical signals at cellular and molecular levels. Furthermore, the group works on neural interfaces, aiming to establish direct and high-fidelity communication between neural networks and electronic systems through high-density microelectrode arrays on CMOS chips. The lab is on a quest for electrochemical solutions to address future challenges. Cybernetic Electrochemistry refers to a multidisciplinary field that combines principles of cybernetics (semiconductor-based systems) and electrochemistry to develop advanced systems and technologies. This integration aims to enhance the precision, efficiency, and functionality of electrochemical processes. Applications include electrochemistry-based neuromorphic engineering, DNA computing, smart sensors, automated and microscale electrochemical analysis, and multifunctional electrochemical systems requiring real-time data processing and adaptive control.
